Here is the basemap 12345678.img

Now how to get it onto your GPS?

  1. You need the right type of GPS (One that uses basemaps and has memory for storage.
Mine is a Garmin Etrex Legend
  2. Next you need some software to take this file, and upload it to your GPS.
I use img2gps, it works and it's free
(I use com1 and baud rate 9600 to get it to work, as I have a serial GPS connector)
  3. Thats it.

I have a base road map of the UK, that stays; this base map of the New Forest appears over the top of the original map. It can be deleted in the options menus.

For my own information, this is how I create the map:

  1. Create map in TrackmakerPro
  2. Include background map edge
  3. Save map as Mapdekode .dbx (save as an eight digit numeric name)
  4. open map dekode, click map-create, choose 'detail map from DB
  5. Creates map with same name .img
